My Mum Ran A 5K

£7.50 Back in Stock Soon

‘Skye’s mum just isn’t fun anymore. One day, a chance comment lifts them off the sofa and down a road that leads them to gold medals! Join this trash-eating raccoon family on a life-saving journey to health and happiness.’

The narrator is 5-year-old Skye who is desperate to get away from the TV and have fun with mum – but she’s always too tired.

‘My Mum Ran a 5K’ by author Cheryl Thallon aims to inspire children to develop a love of movement and a taste for healthy food early on in life, ultimately helping to instil life-long habits from an early age. It encourages children to become the inspiration and motivators for wellness and good health within their families.

This colourful, fully illustrated 36-page publication, is aimed at 3 to 7-year-olds.

The book is the work of illustrator Charlie Tomkins, but continues a lifetime mission for Cheryl, who “fell in love” with health food stores aged 21, having worked in the health sector for 40+ years including in health food stores, as editor of Natural Food Trader magazine and finally, as the founder of ethical vitamin company, Viridian Nutrition.

For four decades, physical and mental wellness has been her passion. “The big question to my mind has been ‘What kind of 60-year-old do you want to be?’  Well, the habits we have today are direct predictors of the health we will experience in the years ahead. By writing this story for children, maybe the connection between food, movement and health can be sparked.

“If we love the NHS, then we must start and continue to love ourselves, making the decision to care for our own health so we can free up hospital beds for those less fortunate than ourselves.”
